Q: What forms of payment do you accept?

A: Main-Care accepts checks, money orders, and major credit and debit cards (Visa and Mastercard). Use our convenient Customer Portal to securely pay your bill online, or sign up for AutoPay. Automatic delivery customers have the option of a 12-month budget plan.

Q: Do you offer price protection?

A: You bet we do! Sign up for our Capped Price Protection Plan and you’ll never pay more than your capped price. If our retail price falls below the cap, you pay the lower price.

Q: What are your hours of service?

A: As a 100 percent employee-owned company, we are here for our customers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including holidays. You will always speak to a Main-Care Energy employee-owner – not an answering service – no matter what time you call us.

Q: My heating system isn’t working. Is there something I can do to get heat back?


  • Step 1 – Check your fuel tank for oil or propane to make sure you have enough fuel. If you use natural gas, see if all your other gas appliances are operating properly.
  • Step 2 – Check your thermostat to make sure the heat is turned up higher than the temperature in your home.
  • Step 3 – Check to see if you have an emergency on/off switch in the hallway/entryway to your basement, and make sure it is turned on. It is possible that your main power switch is on the side of or just above the heating system.
  • Step 4 – Please check your fuse/breaker box and determine if you have a blown fuse or tripped breaker. Replace fuse or reset breaker.
  • Step 5 – If you have an oil heat system, press the red reset button ONLY ONCE. The reset button is usually located on the top of the burner control on the front of your heating unit.
  • Step 6 – Contact us anytime, and we will send a service technician to come out and get your heat back on.

Q: Do you sell propane?

A: Yes we do! We also provide the same budget and payment options, automatic delivery, Capped Price Protection and Service Plans that are available to our heating oil customers, specially tailored to propane. Q: Do you offer service for natural gas?

A: Yes, we provide complete service from annual maintenance and tune-ups to complete replacement of your heating and hot water systems. We also offer the most comprehensive service plans available.

Q: Do you service air conditioning equipment?

A: Yes, we provide complete service from annual maintenance and tune-ups to complete replacement of traditional central air conditioning systems, as well as ductless mini-split systems. We do not provide service for window air conditioners. We also offer the most comprehensive service plans available.

Q: Do you service generators?

A: Yes ,we provide complete service from new equipment installations to annual runtime maintenance and repair service. We also offer the most comprehensive service plans available.

Q: How do I schedule deliveries?

A: We provide automatic delivery to our customers for their heating fuel needs at no additional charge. Most of our customers prefer the convenience and accuracy that automatic delivery provides. If you are using our fuel for something other than heating, such as cooking or hot water or to power your generator, we also provide regular scheduled deliveries.

Q: What is automatic delivery?

A: Automatic delivery is a convenience that we offer to our customers at no additional charge. Automatic delivery is based on your previous fuel usage patterns, the size of your home, and “degree days” – a measurement of cold weather in your region. Automatic delivery takes the guesswork out of scheduling your fuel delivery and is the best way to provide peace-of-mind when cold weather hits.

Q: Can I order my fuel online?

A: Of course you can! For customers who do not prefer the convenience of automatic delivery and do not wish to take advantage of our budget plans, credit terms, or capped price protection, we provide convenient, easy, and secure online fuel ordering with competitive pricing and quantity discounts at Main-Care Express.


Q. What is the difference between Bioheat® Fuel and the heating fuel I am using now?

A. Bioheat Fuel is a blend of ultra-low sulfur heating oil (ULSHO) and biodiesel, a 100 percent renewable fuel made from inedible vegetable oils (such as soybeans), animal fat, or recycled cooking greases. Rigorously tested to ensure quality, cleaner-burning Bioheat offers the same “warm” heat produced by traditional heating oil but with fewer emissions.

Q. Will my existing oil heating system be able to use Bioheat?

A. Yes! Bioheat is fully compatible with your existing oil heating system; no upgrades will be needed.

Q. Will Main-Care Energy’s transition to Bioheat cost me extra money? Is it more expensive than traditional heating fuel?

A. It might sound too good to be true, but Bioheat burns so cleanly and efficiently, you may use less heating fuel, saving you money while also helping protect our environment. What’s more, the transition to Bioheat will result in no additional costs to our customers; the price per gallon is the same as traditional heating oil.
