Natural Gas or Propane Furnace
Tax Credit Specification:
AFUE Greater Than or Equal To 95
Tax Credit:
30% of cost, up to $1,500 (Subject to a $1,500 maximum
per homeowner for all improvements combined.)

Not all ENERGY STAR products will qualify for the
tax credit. If you have questions about a specific

The following
rebates are available to National
Grid or Main-Care Energy Natural Gas heating customers.
Installing a natural gas
heating system will prove helpful to the environment
while saving you money at the same time. Plus, a
high efficiency furnace or boiler can save up to
30% of your heating-related energy use.

$1,000 for forced hot water boilers with 90%+
Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE)

$500 for forced hot waters boilers with 85%
AFUE

$400 for forced hot air furnaces with 92%+ AFUE
and an Electronic Commutated Motor (ECM)

$500 for steam boilers with electronic ignition
and 82%+ AFUE

Gas, Oil, Propane Water Heater
Tax Credit Specification:
Energy Factor Greater Than or Equal To 0.82 or a
thermal efficiency of at least 90%.
Tax Credit:
30% of cost, up to $1,500 (Subject to a $1,500 maximum
per homeowner for all improvements combined.)
Notes:
Not all ENERGY STAR gas storage and gas condensing
water heaters will qualify for the tax credit. All
ENERGY STAR gas tankless models will qualify.
The following
rebates are available to National
Grid or Main-Care Energy Gas Water Heating customers.
Water heating accounts
for the third largest energy expenditure of the
average household. Installing a natural gas hot
water system will prove helpful to the environment
while saving you money at the same time. In fact,
a high efficiency model can reduce your hot water
costs by as much as 30%.

$500 for a tankless on-demand water heater with
an Energy Factor of .82+ and electronic ignition.

$300 for an indirect water heater attached to
a natural gas ENERGY STAR forced hot water boiler.
